Using Follicular Unit Transplantation, Dr. Barr has the ability to correct the old "Pluggy" or "Corn-Row" look that resulted from outdated procedures such as the Plug Technique and Micro-Mini Grafting Technique. The repair of these poor aesthetic outcomes can involve either augmentation of the existing plug grafts with FUT to camouflage them, removing the old, larger grafts and re-transplanting them using the newer FUT method in a more natural pattern or a combination of both. When it is necessary, the old plugs are removed, and using a stereoscopic microscope, separated into individual follicular units, then re-implanted. This results in a very natural hair restoration with minimal damage.
Another significant concern when previous transplantation has been performed is the amount of available donor hair remaining. Many patients whose prior hair transplant was performed using older methods are left with depleted donor supply areas. Using microscopic dissection, Dr. Barr can harvest donor hair in, and around, the scar tissue produced by past donor hair harvesting. This technique dramatically increases the amount of usable hair and results in better long term correction. |
